Job Overview
The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will be an integral member of the Sector Controls & Reporting group and will report directly to the AMESA & APAC Senior Director of Technical Accounting. This individual will provide support on various technical accounting activities, including M&A transactions, and lead all JV compliance matters for AMESA and APAC Sectors. The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting will collaborate with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure application of US GAAP and execution of policies & procedures requirement to comply with current and new accounting pronouncements.
The role is location free, and the candidate should be based in one of these locations with PEP offices: Egypt, India or Pakistan. No relocation will be available for this role.
Key Accountabilities
Support & provide guidance on transactions for accounting implications (revenue recognition, functional currencies, leases, consolidations, significant contracts, derivatives, financing, etc.) and perform evaluation & research of the technical accounting requirements in compliance with US GAAP and PepsiCo policies.
Ensure compliance with the JV Governance policy by maintaining monitoring processes to provide transparent and real-time oversight on all attributes of the policy, streamline the process, and enhancing the knowledge and understanding of all relevant employees on the requirements.
Ensure JV investments have been captured, recorded, and reported by markets in line with US GAAP.
Perform the goodwill and other impairment assessment processes.
Collaborate with the AMESA/APAC Planning team & Corporate to review and facilitate CAPEX & treasury approvals.
Support in accounting and control matters related to mergers, acquisitions, and disposal.
Support in communicating and implementing new accounting requirements and standards, including assessment of financial impact due to changes.
Research accounting standards & engage with the Corporate Technical Accounting team and KPMG to align and resolve accounting related issues, including proposing accounting treatment for new scenarios.
Ensure formal documentation of new and/or material accounting positions and considerations, communicating current and on-going accounting requirements & impact to markets and management, reviewing controls, and question and issue resolution and ultimate alignment with external auditors.
Conduct regular training and refreshers on accounting implications of business scenarios, new policies, changes to existing policies and overall accounting policy awareness.
Assist the financial reporting group with quarterly/annual financial reporting requirements.
Ensure timely adherence to technical accounting related SOX requirements and efficient SOX reporting
Address other ad hoc requests, as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
Minimum 8-10 years of relevant accounting related experience.
Solid US GAAP/IFRS knowledge with SEC/statutory experience.
Strong technical accounting skills, and experience researching and documenting accounting issues
Proactive, self-starter mentality with splendid project management skills
High level of intellectual curiosity and strong desire to succeed
Superb attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage numerous simultaneous priorities
Strong communication skills with excellent written and verbal English skills
Team-oriented and collaborative approach to work
Strong business ethics
Manager experience in public accounting serving global public companies, Big Four experience highly preferred.
Experience in technical accounting role is a plus.
Commercial/financial understanding in the food/consumer packaged goods industries desired
