micro1 is hiring **Materials Science Experts** for an **AI training project** focused on computational materials science, materials modeling, scientific simulation, and Python.
### What You’ll Do
🔹 Solve and validate computational materials science & engineering problems
🔹 Create material structures, atomic configurations, compositions, and simulation inputs
🔹 Model structure–property and composition–performance relationships
🔹 Run atomistic, electronic-structure, molecular-dynamics, continuum, or electrochemical simulations
🔹 Use **Python** to automate calculations, generate inputs, run parameter sweeps, and analyze results
🔹 Analyze mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemical, structural, and electrochemical properties
🔹 Diagnose convergence issues, numerical instability, invalid structures, and incorrect assumptions
🔹 Compare computational results with experimental data, literature, and expected physical trends
🔹 Review **AI-generated solutions** for scientific accuracy
🔹 Develop reproducible reference solutions and verification methods
Job Requirements:
✅ MS or PhD in **Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgy**, or closely related field
✅ MS/PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with substantial materials specialization may also qualify
✅ Strong understanding of materials behavior and structure–property relationships
✅ Experience in computational materials modeling, simulation, characterization, or materials-focused engineering
✅ Practical **Python** proficiency
✅ Experience with at least one **CLI-, scripting-, configuration-, or API-accessible** scientific/engineering tool
✅ Ability to validate modeling assumptions, parameters, approximations, and convergence criteria
✅ Strong scientific reasoning and technical communication
🧪 **Relevant Tools:**
LAMMPS • ASE • pymatgen • Quantum ESPRESSO • FEniCSx • CalculiX • Elmer • PyBaMM and similar tools
🐍 **Python Ecosystem:**
NumPy • SciPy • pandas • Matplotlib • Jupyter • Materials Informatics & Scientific Computing Libraries
⚠️ **Important:** GUI-only experience is **not sufficient**. Solutions must be reproducible through code, scripts, configuration files, CLI tools, or APIs.
### Project & Compensation
🤖 **AI Training Project** — no traditional product-development role
💵 Compensation is **output-based**, with payment per task meeting project specifications.
