📂 Category: Remote Job
Job Description:
⚙️ **#Mechanical_Engineering_Expert – $80–$130/hour - #Remote**
💰 **Pay:** $80–$130/hour
💼 **Type:** Contractor
🌍 **Work Model:** Fully Remote — Global
⏱️ **Commitment:** ~15 hours/week
🕐 **Schedule:** Flexible — choose your own hours and days
🤖 **Project:** AI Training | Engineering Design & Simulation
### About the Role
micro1 is looking for highly skilled **Mechanical Engineering Experts** to contribute to an AI training project focused on engineering design, physical modeling, simulation, and technical problem-solving using **Python**.
You’ll work across structural, thermal, mechanical, and multiphysics engineering problems — creating, solving, reviewing, and validating realistic engineering tasks.
🚨 **Important:** Experience limited exclusively to graphical interfaces is **not sufficient**. You should be comfortable using engineering tools through **code, scripts, configuration files, CLI, or APIs**.
### What You’ll Work On
🔹 Solve and validate mechanical engineering problems involving design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D
🔹 Translate physical requirements into analytical and computational models
🔹 Create or modify geometry, meshes, materials, loads, contacts, constraints, and solver inputs
🔹 Perform structural, thermal, dynamic, fatigue, buckling, vibration, and related analyses
🔹 Use **Python** for automation, simulations, parameter sweeps, optimization, post-processing, and verification
🔹 Analyze stress, strain, displacement, temperature, heat flow, deformation, frequency response, and safety factors
🔹 Compare simulation results with hand calculations, experimental data, reference cases, or expected physical behavior
🔹 Diagnose geometry, mesh, convergence, boundary-condition, and unrealistic-output issues
🔹 Review **AI-generated engineering solutions** and identify reasoning errors and violated physical constraints
🔹 Develop clear, reproducible reference solutions and validation checks
🔹 Improve designs for performance, mass, strength, stiffness, thermal behavior, reliability, and manufacturability
Job Requirements:
🎓 **MS or PhD** in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
**OR**
🎓 **BS in Mechanical Engineering + 1–2 years** relevant professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, testing, or R&D
✅ Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and applied mechanics
✅ Experience developing analytical, computational, or simulation-based solutions
✅ Practical proficiency in **Python**
✅ Experience with at least one engineering/geometry/meshing/simulation tool accessible through **CLI, scripting, configuration files, or API**
✅ Ability to select and justify loads, boundary conditions, material properties, assumptions, and model fidelity
✅ Strong simulation troubleshooting and physical-result validation skills
✅ Ability to clearly explain engineering decisions, limitations, and trade-offs
### 🛠️ Relevant Tools
**Engineering:**
CalculiX • Gmsh • Elmer • FEniCSx • CadQuery • OpenSCAD • OpenFOAM • Similar CLI-accessible tools
**Python / Scientific Computing:**
NumPy • SciPy • SymPy • pandas • Matplotlib • Jupyter • CAD/Meshing APIs • Optimization & Scientific Libraries
💡 **No single tool or library is mandatory. Equivalent programmatic engineering experience is acceptable.**
### Hiring Process
1️⃣ Apply & complete screening questions
2️⃣ ~30-minute AI interview
3️⃣ Technical assessment — if required
4️⃣ Hiring Manager review
### 💵 Compensation
Payment is **output-based** — experts are paid per task that meets project specifications.
⏱️ Task completion time may vary depending on experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply.
⚡ **Start:** Roles are typically filled within 48 hours. Selected experts are expected to begin their first task within **24–48 hours after onboarding**.
